The building is a former elementary school purchased in 1993 by the Muslim community from the Saskatoon School Board. The Centre is at walking distance from the University of Saskatchewan and Royal University Hospital. The Islamic Centre caters to religious and social needs with prayers, social events, invitation of scholars, and a Weekend Islamic Arabic School. The Centre has a prayer hall which can accommodate more than 400 persons, a gym, 8 classrooms, a playroom (day care), 2 kitchens (one large kitchen certified by the Health Board and another small one), 2 lunch rooms, a library, 2 wudu' areas and other facilities. The Centre is located on 2 acres of land close to the Grosvenor Park in a nice neighborhood.
