Congratulations Eid Mubarak
Sept. 5, 2017

As we are deep into the most excellent ten days of the year, now is the time to capitalise on the blessings. As with the last ten days of Ramadan, the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are also the most beloved in the sight of Allah (SWT). The fortunate ones amongst us have been given the opportunity to perform Hajj during these days, while those who are unable to do so can still reap the rewards. The day of Arafat falls within these days and it is the most sacred of them all. It is deemed the most significant procedure of Hajj, with pilgrims gathering together on the plain of Arafat, making ample amounts of dua and prayers. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) advised to increase in worship on this day, adding "On this day (of Arafah) whomsoever holds his hearing, sight, and tongue (from committing sins), he will be forgiven by Allah." [Ahmad]. For those not at Hajj, it is highly recommended to fast on the day of Arafah, with the Prophet (SAW) also stating that “It expiates the sins of the previous year and of the coming year." [Muslim]. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) further stressed that “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days” [Bukhari], therefore it is essential that we all proceed with acts of worship and increase them if possible as no act of ibadah can be belittled. An essential part of this month is the sacrifice of a livestock (Udhiya/Qurbani), which is obligatory upon every sane adult. This is done in accordance to the actions of prophet Ibrahim (AS), whose piety and faith in Allah helped provide the day of Eid al Adha for us. HalalGuide can assist you in harvesting the rewards of this month. The app provides a clock which reads the prayer times, rather than real time, enabling users to know the exact times of the five daily prayers. The application also offers notifications to inform you when the upcoming prayer is about to begin, allowing you to be sure to pray on time during these blessed days. HalalGuide also provides a copy of the Holy Quran, allowing users to read the scripture at any time as well as on-the-go. This simple action has heavy rewards and can be accessed simply from your mobile phone. Our app also suggests a vast array of Halal restaurants and diners. For those of you who are fasting on the day of Arafah, this is convenient if you are unable to break your fast at home. You can also visit one of these on Eid; a pleasant way to celebrate and enjoy the great day. We hope that HalalGuide facilitates your worship during these holy days. Be sure to give your sacrifice and heighten your efforts to please Allah (SWT) by enhancing your ibadah. The recommended dua for the day of Arafah is ‘La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamdu wahuwa ’ala kuli shay-in qadeer’ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ ، وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ المُلكُ ، وَ لَهُ الحَمدُ ، وَ هُوَ عَلَى .كُلِّ شَيءٍ قَدِيرٌ (“There is no true God worthy of being worshipped except Allah, alone, without any partners. To Him belongs the Kingdom, and all-praise is due to Him, and He is able to do all things”). Keep your tongue occupied with this dua in order to gain more ajr as well as increasing your iman so that your will be certain to feel the blessings of this month and are ready to celebrate the day of Eid. May Allah (SWT) bless and protect us and forgive our sins and may we all be amongst those who are forgiven on the day of Arafah. We wish you all a wonderful and rejoiceful Eid al Adha, HalalGuide
