Owner Hanna Haile's friendly greeting tone is only indicative of the atmosphere you experience when you enter Merhaba. Merhaba is home to Hanna Haile and many other eritreans that immigrated to Orange County from the mother land, and found each other when looking around for a familiar face, a friendly hand. It is with this in mind that Hanna Haile has managed to infuse this cozy locale with all the love and homely spirit that she could give, to turn it into a home for herself and others. And that homely feeling stays renewed with every trip to Merhaba, through her warm smile, the rich aroma of african spices, the diffused lighting. Merhaba (eritrean word for "welcome") is the word used to greet incoming guests in Eritrea... and now also in Orange County! The cozy environment perfectly matches the Eritrean ritual of the shared meal and enhances the spirit of communion and togetherness, typical of the culture.
