Hi Sister, I wish to start by reminding you that marriage in Islam is a contract between a man and a woman and the contracting is binding on both parties unless dissolved. It is also important to note that it is permitted in Islam for a Muslim man to marry a woman from the people of the book. This is the honourable title given to Jews and Christians who are considered as brethren to Muslims. It is therefore allowed for you and the brother to marry if you can follow the normal procedure and satisfy the four main conditions which must be completed before a marriage is consummated. The four conditions are as follows: 1. Proposal and acceptance: One of you must propose to the other and the one being proposed to must accept the offer. The acceptance can be verbal, written or in any other form. 2. Waliyy (Guardian): You relationship must be approved by a guardian for the bride. This may be your father or any mail guardian from the wife's side. If you can not get a male guardian from your side, the local imam or spiritual leader can stand in to represent them. 3. Sadaq (Dowry). The groom should offer a gift to the bride exclusively for the marital contract. This gift must be accepted by the bride. If the groom does not have money to pay for the dowry at the moment, a promise can be made to the bride if the bride agrees with that. 4. Two witness. Two male witnesses or one male and two female or four females must testify to the companionship between the bride and the groom. As soon as these four conditions are satisfied, you can start living together as husband and wife. I pray to the Almighty Allah to make it easy for you and make the marriage fruitful for you in this world and the hereafter.
